First things first. If you are new here, an unlurking lurker (or simply unsure of the forum etiquette) then make sure you read the FORUM RULES - there aren’t many of them and they are all there for a good reason. So if you break them expect to be pounced on and ridiculed by the admin’s, mods or regulars
There are numerous commonly asked questions by new users. So please use this thread as a starting point...This is a ‘work in progress’ so if there’s anything you think should be added either request it or create a guide for inclusion
Where should I create my posts?
Please think carefully about which forum you are posting images\content to. Is the content in any way ‘not safe for work’? If so, please post in the ‘crap links nsfw’ forum if the post is graphic but not sexual, or one of the NSFW forums if it is porn related. Don’t forget, people will be viewing these forums from work and so don’t want the proxy servers flagging up inappropriate content then because someone hasn’t thought about where they are posting to.
How do I attach multiple images to a post?
Under the new message window, click the ‘browse’ button and choose the picture you want to attach
If that is the only thing you want to post then click ‘Submit Post’, if you want to add more to that reply then click on ‘Preview Post’
To add the next picture click on the ‘Browse’ button and then ‘Preview Post’ until you have added all for that reply, and then submit it
You can post a maximum of 8 pictures per reply.
If you are creating replies to your initial post to add more images and you get a message along the lines of ‘unable to recieve your submission at this time’ it’s because the system thinks it’s a duplicate. Simply add a bit of random text in the replies message box.
Types of sites not to link to
Please do not link to any of the following sites:
i) TNG (thumbnail gallery) sites - these are ‘traffic trading’ site that are ad driven.
ii) Referrer driven sites - where you earn money by driving traffic to the site. These usually have some form of ‘earn easy cash’ link on the site.
iii) Any site you are unsure of. If you are not sure whether the site is ‘safe’ (i.e. not sure if it contains trojans, illegal content, or other nasties) do not link to it.
“I’ve got some great pictures of my wife\girlfriend\other but they’re too big to upload. Is there an easy way to resize them before I upload?”
1) Download the photoresize400.exe (freeware app) from here and copy it to your desktop.
2) Rename it to photoresize800.exe (or whatever the maximum width you want the finished images to be).
3) Open up Windows Explorer, browse to the images directory and simply drag and drop the images you want to resize onto the photoresize800.exe desktop icon. To drag multiple files, click the first file on the list hold down the shift key and click the bottom file, keep your mouse button held down and drag and drop all the files to the desktop icon.
4) It will create copies of the pics in the same folder with 800 appended to the end of the filename (e.g. firstpic800.jpg.
5) Upload the *800.jpg’s to the forum.
Embedding YouTube videos - especially for R-Boris
This really, isn’t that difficult.
Create your post and click the <youtube> button, you will see it mentions Please enter the youtube string, not ‘please enter the youtube URL’....this means that you only should enter the string which is the identifier of the video. So if, for instance, your URL was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRtl7r6fnUs&NR=1 then the string is the bit after the ‘v=’ and before ‘&NR;=’ so in this case you would simply paste vRtl7r6fnUs into the youtube string box. Click Ok, save your post and viola - you don’t get a silly link.
