Im in need of a converter from .avi to .wmv

Because my silly xbox plays wmv and not avi.. this is becoming a giant ballache.  And the software i used today said 2 days to convert a film.
I think not..
haha

So can any of you reccomend a program to use / different file that the xbox 360 will stream.  I’d be super grateful.

Thanks in advance chaps.

Hey Cowboy, you could try these to convert it:

http://www.zamzar.com/
http://media-convert.com/

You upload your file, they convert it, and then e-mail it to you. I’ve had varying levels of luck with both. But if you’re trying to do a whole film then they probably won’t work, you’d have to do it in chunks. Ok so basically nevermind, but keep these in mind for the future red face

Cowboy!

Windows Movie Maker will convert .avi to .wmv

The time it takes to convert is all down to what ram and cpu you got...cos it wont make much difference, whatever software you use if you are running low spec…

did we get an endorsement from Windows for the MM??? cause thats 2 plugs in a row for it…

hehe but I cant argue with MM, it does work well.

I like the Magic Video Batch Converter. you can demo it or if ye be a crafty lad or so possessed you can find other ways to get it.

I’ve been using “Replay Converter” for several months and it seems to handle most format conversions easy and fast but it’s not free. The single program is about 15 quid and their full suite is about 52 quid. (I’m in Canada and can’t be arsed to find the keyboard combo for £.)

Oddly enough, I don’t remember exactly where I heard about this product but fuzzy gray cells make me think that DB mentioned it somehow ...

There is also a nice freeware called ‘Prism Video Converter’, as well…
