I use firefox for the most part and while it does have some fairly big issues, there is a great piece of software calld NoSCripts that you cn add on to it that lets you go to a site and only see stuff you want to see. You can stop all the adds and pop-ups just dont make it through. It’s awesome!

But...that’s why the virus writers make it an executable ‘codec’ people have to download to watch the clip…

If somone wanted to watch the clip that desperately...they would download the Codec/Trojan regardless of browser or ‘add-on’..
