Apocalypse Now was on TV last night, and the opening scenes for it must be up there with the best ever for a film.

I went to Cape Town a couple of years ago and had a ride in a Huey helicopter, the crew played The Doors “The End” over speakers as the blades started turning, fucking brilliant it was.

Anyway, just had to find the opening clip.

As soon as I read the thread title I thought of this scene…

I think if I didn’t love the whole movie that much the opening wouldn’t have the same effect - but it does

Other openings are also great, but I couldn’t find them around: THX 1138 (just the credits going downwards with the weird music) and Shortbus (kinda starts with a bang ) come to mind.

unfortunatly theres only 1.31 minutes of this but the start really is good. i adore this film
