Sorry, when I said polish, I meant getting old non shiny marble, to be be shiny sleek marble - possible with the use of some electric tools. Not clean up old marble that has dirt on it.

If it is kinda shiny already then i would just get some furniture wax and wax it up. It is is dull then you need to sand and sand until the surface is smooth, then take a polishing wheel or a buffer and go to town on it till is shines.
