The link below is the line speedtester that BT Tech/Openreach can access to confirm your download speed, regardless of what ISP you are with.

Everything has to go thru BT at some stage...and thats whats your ISP will be using to see what speed you are synching with your local exchange at.

Anyways…

For at least 3yrs, my speed was always around 4.0mb download…

At the start of May, my line profile was suddenly set to 1.5mb (which means i was getting under 1mb download)

It has then dropped further and further down over the last 10 weeks to 650kbps...and then lower until it dropped all together..

I got a bit of a conspiracy theory going on this, as i have been reading more and more people on the web claiming the same thing as i am, with the same kinda time scale and no one knowing as to why, or any Tech dept giving a truly viable explanation.

well i been checking mine and it stays very close to 10mb. which is what i pay for. think the lowest is like 9.7 or close to that.

yeah. and i branch of a wireless hub to my other pc and that runs about the same speed.

It should work for all ISP’s that use BT lines, perhaps.

You know my home phone no., try using that…

im sure they have just fucked up your line

It does say ‘your ISP or BT’ an awful lot in the wording…

That ‘authorisation error’ message happens to me a lot...and i’ve been a BT customer for over 20yrs…

I dunno...maybe its your firewall is blocking the connection..or your exchange is having some work done during the ‘off-peak’ time…

mines bout the same as topovs. around 4 megs
