Sorry, this is a really dull topic…

Anyone know much about Sat Nav systems?
Does the brand really make much difference?  I’d only really ever heard of TomTom, but looking today there’s loads about and they all range in price so much.

Cheers for your insights.

Depends where you live, in the UK it seems that tomtom is the best one due to its maps, however in the states the garmin unit appears to have the lead again due to the quality of the mapping.

Sucks For Blow is right, here in the states.. Garmin is the way to go… Tomtom seems to be the better choice in the UK.  It also depends on the model your going to buy.. cheap or expensive?

i gots an N95 and Garmin… cant really fault either, but for speed and accuracy have to say Garmin all the way…

oh and one quick thing thats fucking awesome on the Garmin (was the deal sealer for me in Halfords) is the speed camera detector/alert ... dont think tomtom has this function?… it depicts all speed cams, stationary or mobile police fuckas that sit/travel… thats fucking priceless in my books… saved me so much £££ when travelling in london, so the unit has paid for itself

all i gotta do now is remember to pay the fuckin congestion charge

I had a Garmin..

No problems with it. Try the US English for the language selection...They call roundabouts ‘traffic circles’…

If your not willing to fork out the cash for a satnav you can always buy a second hand xda and download the software…

Works just as well…

Sat Navs are like letting your g/f or wife navigate! They get you there most of the time and they take the strangest routes! Where we are Sat Navs make you visit every farm within 10 miles of our house! ohh

This looks like a bargain - £79 with full postcode searching. It’s had almost 200 reviews and the average is 5/5.

Cheers,

Thanks chaps.

I shall go to Halfords tomorrow and upset some spotty faced lad by playing with all the models and then going home to buy online.

I agree with NaughtyTeddy, what’s wrong with an old fashioned A-Z?

I don’t need Sat Nav because I never go anywhere if I don’t know how to get there.
