The “MB” is listed in the Guinnes book as product with the greatest pricely difference. Starting from a few thousand bucks (when it came out) up to a few cents for 1 “MB” today.

It would be worth it…

More capacity than a floppy disk; doesn’t sound so bad.

I know, it’s crazy. If they do clamp down file sharing and bring in more secure DRM then what will happen ? If you’re looking at a $1 per track then you could have $500,000 dollars of music on a MP3 player that cost $100 to buy. The pound is strong against the dollar at the moment, so it’s ‘only’ £250,000. A bargain ! The muggers will be after your MP3 content and not the player.

You are right…

Things will not change in the future....

Think...everytime someone brings out a new music ‘protection’...someone is going to crack it and make the music available for free…

No one can win this war...It will always go on..and it is pointless…

Both sides will always be equal in their battle…

One for one…

It’s odd how it has become less secure as technology has progressed. You couldn’t copy vinyl to vinyl at home. Then tape recorders came along. Then you could copy to tape and then tape to tape with some degredation between copies. Now copies are perfect. Once something is digitised then it becomes infinitely copyable. What disgusts me is the greed behind the music and movie industry. They put digital tracks on a server and it costs them pennies to serve them up to customers. It’s far cheaper than burning a CD, packaging it, transporting to a shop and putting it on a shelf. Yet, they still try to sell you the downloadable version for a similar price to that in the shop. They’re fucking coining it in from music downloads. It’s got to be far more profitable to run a bank of servers selling millions of tracks than run a network of highstreet outlets. Is this saving passed onto the customer ? Is it fuck !

Personally, I think that some sort of download tax will come into effect across Europe. We’ll all have to pay X Euro/Sterling per GB. It’s on it’s way, I’m sure. Look on the bright side, you’re in Belgium and the Belgians makes some fantastic beer so life isn’t so bad.
