PS…

If any of you are thinking about buying a good, pro-looking digi-cam for little money…

Well..

I’ve just spent an hour checking this camera ‘properly’ out…

You’d be amamzed at the features it has for the semi-pro…

(and for the ‘amateur’ who knows jack shit, it’s piss easy to use...just set it on ‘Auto’ point and click...and you’ll get pro looking pictures)

The digital zoom is mental...10X (but you so gotta use a tripod at that zoom range…

I am totally impressed with it...especially as its still on sale on the web for anywhere between £150-£304...and i paid £99 at Argos this morning. I bought the last one they had at my local store…

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001001&langId;=-1&searchTerms=5606863&x=18&y=6

If you are thinking about it...Get yo’ ass down to Argos and get one...beg, steal or borrow the money...You just know they are not gonna stay at this price forever and you could lose out on a fucking good camera.

In the USA they are doing deals for $150 on the camera (new)...and thats $50/£25 cheaper than the UK…

After i read all the reviews on this cam before i bought it...i am now glad i did. I cannot fault it in anyway.

9.5/10 (cos nothing is perfect)

Get one…

Question for ya. Im new to this expensive camera doo-dah having moved up from a trusty lil 5mp fujipix something or other. I used to use a film type slr a few years back and now i have the D80. What the deal with lenses. As in, what is the tamron 90mm lens for? I dont completly understand what the numbers are for. like 24-50mm and 80-200mm. cheers

Pinkpyro, the numbers are the zoom or focal distance for the lens.  The f2.8 or what ever is the aperture of the lens, controls the amount of light needed for a shot and the depth of field.  Keep in mind when buying a lens that the quality of the glass in the lens vary from company to company, I shoot cannon camera and can take a Tamron, Sigma and others as well as canon lens, but have found that it is worth the money to shoot with a quality lens maker.  I have one Tamron lens that I use very rarely, it is a wide angle, but mostly shoot canon glass because I can see a massive difference(I have three sigma lens that I bought from a friend when I got the camera and they are all shit, stay far away from them).
The D80 is a killer camera, I would suggest getting a good lens, drop a few more dollars you will appreciate the difference in picture quality!

Picureguys…

I just tried my new Fuji in ‘Auto lowlight’ mode at 04:30am...so it was barely dawning...overcast and fairly dark infact.

I was surprised...1/4sec shutter speed, 1600 ISO...Trouble is my tripod is totally fucked, so ‘handheld’ i got some blur and a bit of noise...but the resulting image was very bright. It kept the ambience of the dawn and yet looked bright and the colors were pretty good.

I was gonna go 4sec over-ride on shutter speed...but pointless without a tripod…

It seems quite happy with 1/4sec tho’...I’ll drop the ISO next time...maybe 800 on a 4sec exposure…

What do you think?

Just checked the specs and it’s actually 10x optical zoom (far better then digital zoom which is just like zooming in with Photoshop). Looks a decent camera smile

Cheers,
