I’ve read hundreds of fantasy books but my favourite series of all time has to be Robert Jordans ‘The wheel of time’ series. If you like this genre you really should give it a go. There’s 11 books though so expect it to take up a fair chunk of your life smile

I heard that the story was supposed to conclude in book 12. But Jordan has died and so it will never have a proper ending. Is that true?

Hi dwarfy,

According to Wiki:

The Wheel of Time: A Memory of Light

After Robert Jordan’s death, Brandon Sanderson was selected to complete the final book in the epic fantasy series by Harriet McDougal, Robert Jordan’s wife. Harriet asked him to complete the series after being deeply impressed by Mistborn: The Final Empire.[9] Tor Books made the announcement December 7, 2007.[10] A Memory of Light is slated for publication in Fall 2009.[10]

This is interesting.

As preperation, Brandon Sanderson spent the entire month of Feb 2008 re-reading the 11 books and posting his thoughts on each on his blog. If you’ve read the series it’s well worth a read.

Okay the first 8 books of this series were good.  Then the rest of them suck ass.  They are just full of useless details about how bright the sun is and characters that don’t matter to the story.  I was in love with this series and was sadly let down.  Branden Sanderson is a damn good author and I am glad that he is given the honor of finishing this series.

If you like the wheel of time check out Terry Goodkind’s “Sword of Truth” Series.  This series blows Jordan out of the water.

Raymond E.Fiest is the man for fantasy books IMO. He has a vast knowledge of Militia and uses it to amazing effect in a world of very realistic fantasy and nicely round characters.

I quite enjoyed the Julian May “Saga of The Exiles” (Saga of the Pliocene Exiles in the US) but Robert E Heinlein’s Stranger In A Strange Land blew me away. Still controversial after 47 years…
