Ladies challenged to tackle water sports

A CHARITY has called on the ladies of Suffolk to take on a fundraising challenge.

The Ladies Water Challenge, organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care, is in its fourth year and is unique to Suffolk.

The charity has challenged women in the area to tackle two hours of windsurfing and sailing, then canoe for one hour, with a break in between.

Participants can enter as an individual or join a team with friends or colleagues and each group will be accompanied by an experienced instructor.

Angela Bussey, community fundraiser for the charity’s Suffolk branch, said: “No experience is necessary and wet suits will be provided. All you need is a pair of waterproof shoes and a sense of humour.

“Persuade your friends and colleagues to come and join you, dressing up can be an option. The aim is to have as much fun as possible on the day.”

The event will be held at Alton Water near Ipswich on September 20. Registration costs £10 and the charity has asked participants to raise £80 in sponsorship.

Marie Curie Cancer Care provides high quality nursing, totally free to give terminally ill people the choice of dying at home supported by their families.

Last year Marie Curie Nurses provided more than 800,000 hours of practical nursing care in the homes of patients.

If you would like to register or receive more information please contact Angela Bussey on ***** ****** or email ************@**********.
