So Comcast, the biggest cable provider (and second biggest internet provider) in the US, will start restricting monthly broadband usage starting in Oct.  The days of unlimited internet usage are over.

The limit they’re setting is 250GB per month which seems pretty generous even with everything I download from this forum.  If you exceed this limit two times, you’re out.  They’ll supposedly terminate your account.  They claim the median monthly usage is 2-3GB per month.

if you download to much ,they put you on smallband,( 45kb/s ffs)‘till the month’s over

I guess I don’t feel so bad then.  I’m paying something like $57/month for what had been unlimited.  Download speeds are great and have rarely had issues with the service.  I’d shoot myself if I had to deal with 45kb/s for long.

Seemed like there was so much overcapacity in the internet infrastructure since the dotcom bust that we’d never have to worry about this.  I guess between porn and Youtube, the world has managed to fill that capacity up.

Between photos, video(not porn for these two just my personal stuff that I do for work), not to mention the stuff that I get from here I am probably pushing good and close to that 250gig mark and I have comcast!  Shit I am going to have to watch what I do from now on!

Comcast can suck my hairy balls.  They are charging me here in the states, 60.00 USD a month for 8 mbps download and 1.5 mbps upload.  if I hop skip and jump to the next state i can get 35 mbps down and 35 mbps up, for 20 bucks cheaper.  And now they are limiting data usage?  Fuck that.  I feel like I am being bent over and fucked through the jeans without lube or a reach around.

I have a relatively low download limit - Well they say it’s unlimited but the Fair Usage Policy is about 40Gb per month. Can’t really complain though, i get a 7.4Mb connection for free.

hell,i got 15mbps download and 512kb/s upload(for 62$ /42.5€).
I mean ,come on ,it takes for ever to upload something.
in the netherlands it’s €30 per month ,20mbps download ,don’t know upload, and no download limits!
everything here is getting more expensive, I hate it here:P if I come to America I can buy myself a shitload of stuff cause it’s so cheap there:P

You guys are lucky. I have a 40gb download limit and I just did a speed test and got 1370kbs. The only good part is its free but thats about it and also my internet connection likes to reconnect between 3 to 10 times a day.

at the start of this year i had a dl of 4Mb (in reality 2) limit of 25GB and cost €37, then they decided to start upgrading it this year, its now 12Mb speed and 160GB and still €37. not a bad increase really
