Unreal. Can you imagine the headlines here if the highlight of some school’s sports day was a mock execution? I was just listening to a Radio 4 programme asking whether the US’s status in the world is slipping (no shit, Sherlock appears to be the conclusion) and what might have been the event which marked the point of decline. At least one of the panel thought that Abu Ghraib was the moment at which the whole “World Policeman” claim was shot away. So, nice to see that everyone’s got the message eh?
