Merry Cristmas all, Now the Christmas sales have arrived and all I’m seeing is adverts for cheap HD tellys, i’m going to bite the bullet and finally buy one. Problem is having had a quick look on the internets there seems to be lots of talk about ‘old Xbox 360s’ not having HDMI cable support, which having looked at my box i don’t. What i do have is a little ‘switcher’ on the cable that runs to my telly to switch it to ‘HD TV’, however the output next to this seems half the size of a normal HDMI connection.

Is this a difference between Male/Female connections, what would be the best way to get me playing in HD?

I think this cable is what you need if your xbox lacks a HDMI output but your TV has a component input available. It is rather expensive if you buy a new one. Look on ebay - those who bought a HDMI cable might sell theirs. There are also cheaper copies but I would prefer a used original. Here is a sketch from the madkatz cable showing how to connect the xbox and your TV.

You could also try this cable. That’s if your tv has a vga (pc) input.

My laptop has a HDMI output socket.
