I have noticed a few annoying issues with the forums database

For a start someone (willy wanka) http://www.totallycrap.com/forums/viewthread/2406/P15/ made a reply to my post and then i see it and hit post a reply and write my reply etc but when its posted it goes above the post i was replying to.........

Then i noticed when someone replyed to a topic i made TODAY the last post date changed to
Posted: 11 months, 4 weeks, 2 days, 9 hours, 58 minutes ago
then when i replyed it changed back to normal

I think to be honest the people above are playing with a few settings as were having a bit of a remodelling of the forum, don’t worry Tuna, things will iron out soon and fingers crossed TC will be back to ‘normal’.

keep the faith..

as I said in the topic you are referring too, we are still busy in getting all the servers set up that we.

To give you a small indication of the task we face.
TC’s frontpage en comments pages did 165gb in traffic in the first week of May. I am talking all those little 4kb buttons and pieces of text.
NSFW’s frontpage and comments pages did 180gb of traffic.

That is without all the content such as videos and photo galleries. Add those and you are looking in excess of 8-10.000gb of traffic.

We are currently running TC and NSFW on a 100mbit line and it is not enough.

Now, we can make a simple decision and not host any content anymore and start being really really crap, but we don’t want to do that.
The solution to all our problems is more power and a few more servers. Once those are in place it takes a lot of tweaking to get the right balance.
Once that is done we’ll throw open the new lay for TC.com
TC.de and TC.gr will get their new lay not long after that.
TC.es and TC.it will follow soon after .de and .gr
(any takers on TC.jp or TC.china???)

Once those new lays are live and once vkmag.nl has had itself a make-over and once the shop is live and once our other big secret project is live (once again its a server issue as we want to launch with enough capacity) we’ll look at the forum and give that the once, twice, thrice over with a new paintjob and probably a new install to make sure we got the bugs out.
Sure it might be a bit annoying to get those little fuck ups, but they are only little at the moment.

I hope my answer satisfies some of you and that you can see that it takes a lot of work, time, effort and money to get all of this off the ground.
Yes, it has taken longer then we thought. Yes, it is taking longer then we hoped. Yes, rather sooner then later.
But some things are out of our hands.
We have made the mistake of launching stuff before it was trully finished and I don’t want to do that now.

PS mods, any bitching goes on refer to this thread please.

i was not bitching about anything i know how it is to transfer big sites etc to multi servers it takes a while but i just wanted to alert you to the database issues as something might not be in sync correctly etc.
how excatly are the new servers set out?

Are they like say
One does say half the DB and the other does the other half
or is it setup up as one server for sql and the other for content etc

ok, small update.

the pics issue has hopefully been fixed. We found out that http://www.totallycrap.com and totallycrap.com were ending up on two different IPs. this meant that the pics being uploaded also ended up in two different folders.
It should be fixed now.
