Before I get to the main rant here, I feel that I should elaborate my own opinions in regards to religion and such, so there’s no mistakes as to my reason for posting this. Note: Skip this post and jump to the reply for the main rant.
My opinion about religion: I’m fairly indifferent. I mean, I don’t particularly care what people believe in as long as they don’t try to force their beliefs on me. My opinion about the “great beyond” is pretty simple tho’. Basically, I’m a guy of facts. And fact is, nobody has any idea whether or not there’s any kind of afterlife. I mean, it’s not like anybody’s ever returned and said “yo, heaven ftw.” All we know is what some poorly translated old book or scroll or the likes has told us. And that’s just not enough for me. But like I said, I’m a fact person. And fact still remains; I have no idea if there’s an afterlife or not. - I really doubt it, but there’s no way of knowing untill it’s too late anyway. So I just do whatever I’m gonna do and when the time comes, if I suddenly sprout wings or horns or something like that, I’ll deal with it then.
Now, my take on religious people:
As far as I’m concerned, religion is mainly dominated by 3 types of people. The extremist, the average religious person and the peer pressure/tradition religious person.
(Note that this is just a general overview of the 3 most common types. Not a complete list chiseled in stone.)
The extremist: These people are mostly, seriously fucked up. There’s a bucketload of ‘em in pretty much every religion and tho’ they’d never admit it.. They aren’t all about the religion. As far as I’m concerned they’re just sociopaths using religion as an excuse to put other people down and do sick shit to them. And if they aren’t using religion as an excuse it’s something else. Money, politics, a common cutthroat.. You name it. Religion itself has little to do with it, it’s just a tool for them to gain power and spread pain among those that disagree with them. I say: Shoot ‘em in the head and be done with ‘em.
The Average religious person: Mostly decent people. They try to do good when they can and follow whatever religion they follow. Tho’ they kinda split into sub groups varying in size depending on the location and amount of people following the same religion in that location. Generally, the more people with the same religion, the more people start leaning towards the extremist. Not to such a severe degree, but the generally end up looking down on people that appear different to them in one way or another. And the less people, the more they start leaning towards the type below, as it becomes less strict and important as there aren’t all that many other people to frown upon and such. But the general point was, they try to be good people. I say: In larger packs, the glares get somewhat annoying, but as long as they don’t try to force their opinion on you, they’re pretty decent people.
The Peer pressure/tradition religious person: Basically, these people just say they follow a specific religion because friends or family follow it and they don’t want to become hated for believing in something different. Generally, these people are in denial. When asked, they’ll swear by their faith, but know little about the religion the claim to follow. And if they do, they generally “bend the rules” when those friends or family aren’t around. They don’t go to church every Sunday or pray every morning or meditate or whatever. They aren’t bad people, Hell, they’re the most logically based of the three types and generally, they’re good people. Again, depending on the amount of people with the same religion in their area, there may be more or less of these people. And as time progresses, this is gradually becoming the most common religious type of the three. Where I’m from anyway. I say: They should probably be more honest about their beliefs, but I honestly can’t blame them. Not all families are as accepting as they could be after all. But besides from that, they’re just “reg. people.”
(My point with all that: I don’t care as long as people don’t try to blow me up or force their opinions on me. - And the glares are a pain, but meh)
Now that you’ve all gotten a closer look at where I stand in regards to these things, I’ll get on to what you’ve all been waiting for. The bitching part. Oh yeah.
DB: What’s wrong with you? Seriously. I mean, no offense. We’ve shared some laughs and you’re generally an entertaining guy. However, sometimes, it’s like your brain just shuts down and your start spitting out one idiotic comment after the other. I’m fairly confident that you want what’s good for the site. And I’m pretty sure you know how one mods opinion and actions can affect a site such as this, yet you continue to sprout these idiotic and pointless comments. And claiming to be talking about the extremist fuckers like you did in the recent thread is just bullshit. It was obvious to everyone that that was directed at all the Muslim users on this board. Not the extremists. And even if it was, do you seriously think any Muslim extremists would come here for any other reason than to hack the site? And if so, do you really think they’d stop to read your ignorant comments? If you seriously thought that, then I’ve given you way too much credit. And it’s honestly not so much your ignorant opinion that’s bothering me, but your constant need to point it out at every chance. For someone that’s supposedly an old fart, you’re behaving like an ignorant child. Get the fuck over it and take it somewhere else. All you’re doing is spreading pointless conflict under the guise of cynicism(And no, that’s not an excuse to insult random people). Take some fucking responsibility as a mod or step down. Your ignorance is hurting the site. (News flash, majority of the population on Earth is religious in one way or the other.) You randomly insulting people because you’re afraid of some extremist fuck blowing you up is not acceptable nor is it an excuse in any way. If you can’t retain your neutrality as a mod, then your time in the chair is up. And I, for one, think you’ve had plenty of chances. And you know I have nothing against you, but for the good of this site, this whitchhunt of yours has to stop. Now.
But then again, I’m not in charge or anything so I probably shouldn’t be barking orders at you, however, I can’t help but think that Willy made this place with the idea that it should be a refuge from the daily bullshit. Politics, petty arguments and just.. Everything and take a breather. Look at some fucked up videos and/or get a little “you” time. And as such, bringing religion into it, is always a bad move.
But like I said, your opinion doesn’t bother me. - The way you feel you have to insult and condem every Muslim on the site, however.. That bothers me greatly. Am I making any sense here? I mean, stop me if I’m not. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you should get banned or the likes, I’m just saying that as a mod, you have to be above this kinda bullsit. In fact, you’re supposed to make sure the site doesn’t get filled with bullshit like that. Anyway, I get the feeling I’m starting to rant in circles here and I don’t think I can say it any clearer.

I figured a public statement would make more sense instead of sneaking around PMs to Willy or something like that. Stuff like that seems kinda childish and silly to me. And I know it’s probably gonna result in bitching from him or other people, which is why I’m leaving it at that.
And it wasn’t so much intended to fix anything per say, as it was intended to make me feel better and at least make those unaware of the issue at hand, aware of it. You know?

I myself was the third Peer pressure/tradition religious person. My Family is Catholic & so was I until I was about 21. Thats when I stopped going to church. Mainly cause I had moved out a couple years earlier & I couldn’t be stuffed going to church anymore.
It wasn’t until I stopped going to church, when I started really thinking about religion & not just taking what I was told at church for granted as the truth.
I started to think about it & thought hmmmmm Na it just doesn’t make sense hey. The whole idea of God being up there. & The devil being down there. Its like the goodies & the Baddies. It all just sounded a little too pathetic to be true! Among heaps of other things that also didn’t seem to make sense.
So now Im a Humanist. About 90% Atheist. The other 10% is still deciding.
This is TC, and guess what, life is tough so wear a helmet! So get over yourselves if DB’s remarks offend you.
I happen to support DB in his opinions and I have his back 100%. This is a clash of civilizations (yes, I said it!) that pits the West ( western Europe and the US) against a portion of the globe that is completely against the values of all people who value equality and individual self expression.
Unlike those who disagree with me, I encourage disagreement in a free forum and am proud to live in a world that still protects the rights of those who might not share the opinions of the majority. Try doing that in Iran and see what happens!
Everything must be taken within context. I say let’s see the entire tape. There is such a thing as inciting a riot. While a woman in a red dress might not appear threating, she is relying on that fact to stir up the mob. That is why you here her say when someone tries to help her “let them see it”.
I do agree that the policeman’s statement were the height of unprofessional-ism and that man should be disciplined accordingly.

And to everybody else, I suggest you read my post thoroughly again. Then you’ll notice that I state numerous times that his opinion is not the reason for me bitching. I’d repeat myself again, but I really hate that, so just read it properly.
