I don`t really know how you feel like.. But a friend of mine called me last weekend, he was almost crying. I asked him what was wrong, and he said he was thinking about his mum.
She has been for many years now. HE`s 19 and she died when he was around 4-5 years old.
It came out of nowhere. he just needed to get it out.
My middle name is Charles, got stick at school for that (amongst other things), but I was named after my Grandfather who passed away just before I was born. I always wore that name with personal pride (and still do) and now my dad,without thinking, occasionally calls me “Charlie”. Makes me smile. We were out tonight,my dad and I, had a few beers, watched the game and played snooker. DB, I know what I will miss and Stoffy, don’t build later regrets…
I know how you feel, DB. My blood father died when I was four so I don’t really remember him. Mum remarried when I was eight and step-dad ignored me so he was a non-issue. But my Mum and I were always close (she was 43 when I was born) and she died in 1998. I was in a card store this year on June 12 for somebody’s birthday and automatically grabbed a card for my Mum (June 14) - got halfway to the cash out before remembering she couldn’t get the post where she is now.
lads, all i can say is i know how you guys feel, especially DB and oldwill, had it happen to me on a few occasions also.............its rough.........like its said, you never fully appreciate something till it ain’t around anymore..............miss them both everyday
my mother in law passed away this year after 15 years of Alzheimer. Horrible, horrible disease. Now my mom has it and its killing me. It kills me that i have to go through it again but much more so that she does.
I wanted to ask him about something...and in an instant i realised he has been dead for 10yrs…
But i still reached for the telephone...in that instant second…
I miss him…
Give your dad a hug...tell him you love him…

I feel your pain dude, my Dad passed Jan ‘04, man I miss that fucker, had the same experience, wanted to phone him to let him know I finished my theater room, man that old fucker would have loved it

De_Bunk thats sad man. Glad to hear you had a good relationship with your dad. Sounds like my dad the way he rings me to remind when the football is on It’s funny really, I geuss its only the little things like that, that you take for granted that you miss.
I can still remember my dad...telling me about his dad...and how he had wished he gone to the store with him, that one time...or the fishing trip...or just out for a drive with him, just for the laugh…
I suppose the moral is…
Don’t have regrets...Don’t sit and think ‘I wish i had gone with him’…
I get the same feeling every once in a while. been six years now.
The mind works in funny ways I guess, always nice to know you aren’t the only one though.
It’s funny really, I geuss its only the little things like that, that you take for granted that you miss.
