It gets worse with age, mates. At my last job the company was spread across three floors and my office was on the top one. It was common for me to get a service call on one of the other floors and, when I arrived on the floor 10 minutes later, have forgotten who I was supposed to see and what the problem was.
Even more embarrassing, I had a job interview in August for a “Network Admin” position which went surprisingly well until the VP of IT hit me with “Describe TCP/IP” and I went totally brain dead. I’ve been working with servers and networks since the early 90’s and know ful well how TCP/IP works - all of which I remembered five minutes later as I got into my car. The buggers didn’t even bother to let me know I didn’t get the job.
The really funny part of the story is that I didn’t might not getting the job as I didn’t get a good feeling about the company and the job. The worst part was the VP was a spitting image of actor Armin Shimmerman aka “Quark” on Star Trek Deep Space 9.
