Righty-ho peoples, thought i’d share some of my limited knowledge with you!
I (stupidly) bought some albums from iTunes (i was too lazy to go to Asda) so i ended up with DRM protected music. As you know, this sucks. So, i made it my quest to find an easy way to convert/remove the DRM from the music.
Now, some of you may already be aware that iTunes will let you burn your music as an audio CD which can then be re-ripped onto your PC. I suppose this is an ok method but it means you waste a blank CD. Anyhoo, this was not any use to me as my CD Writer is fucked so i had to look for other options.
I found a program called Note Burner which essentially installs a virtual CD-R drive on your PC. When you activate it, iTunes thinks there’s a blank CD in your virtual drive and allows you to proceed as you would if there really was a disc in the drive. Note Burner then reads the data from iTunes, decodes it, then re-encodes it as open MP3 files without the DRM.
Anyhoo, the prog has a free trial but you can find cracks/keygens in the usual places.
Hope some of you get a chance to try this, it’s certainly faster than burning and ripping a CD.
