Ok, i’m sure there are a lot of gamers in the land of Totally Crap so i’m gonna call on your help.
My Xbox 360 got the 3 red lights of death recently, but it’s been picked up for repair so i’ll get it back soon.
And while i’ve been without my console, i’ve been contemplating what games to buy. Now one of my mates told me to get Halo 3. I’ve never been into Halo at all. I got Halo when i bought my original Xbox but i never really played it so i let the game just pass me by.
Now that we have a third installment, it got me thinking. Should i go out and buy an old copy of Halo, play it through and then do the same with Halo 2? Does it matter that i don’t know the whole story line from the beginning? I’ll be honest, i play lots of FPS games but they need to keep me interested or i give up on them after a while.
Maybe i should just go and buy Halo 3 to play my mates online. THAT IS an important thing for me, i love online multiplayer games.
So come on Crappers, bless me with your Halo knowledge/experience and help me make the right decision.
I’d hand out my Gamertag, but i’d only give it to the regulars i know.
I’ll start with my disclaimer i am in no way an xbox fanboy or even user amof i fucking hate the things sony and nintendo will be the way to go for me all the time.
Now theres the main thing you need to consider, can you get over the graphics to play through the previous 2 games? it might seem like an easy yes but the time that has gone by has REALLY made a difference if you feel you can get over it then i would suggest that route. If the answer is no then simply read up on the story for 1 and 2 on wikipedia and just buy 3 and thats it.
Note: i have played halo on my mac a while back and i did like it so my utter hate towards microshit doesnt affect my opinion regarding this game
Big Don, I’d say no, you don’t have to play the previous 2 games in the series, if you purchase Halo 3 you’ll be suprised at how short the single player campaign is, it mainly scores big on the multiplayer fuctionality side of things, tis indeed fun online… for a while.
played Assassin’s Creed at a mates house - looks very good. It could be quite slow compared to other games - but I would give it a shot - or you could try Kane and Lynch…
firstly, you literally beat a ‘who here plays halo?’ post by scant seconds so fair game!!
despite the criticisms, despite its faults, and despite the cash you may spend playing halo 1 and 2, the halo series is the shit. no question. it has done more to further video games in the eye of the ‘mainstream’ in six years than ANY game before, add a dedication to fun gamplay and a sci fi storyline that donkey punches the competition repeatedly and you have a recipe for possibly one of the best weekends you can have with your clothes on!
playing halo 1, is just that, part one…...........
play it…. everthing else follows,,,,,,if you fancy playing on pc, for free…..... pm me
i have been a fan of FPS’s for my entire life and half life changed my gaming world, and continues to set the bar for the genre,,,,,,,,,,,,
however, the richness of Half Life , though compelling to fans, can be difficult for everyone to enjoy. Half life(as much as i could discuss it) isnt the issue the issue is this….........................
DON Get the trilogy boxed set its likE lESS THAN 100 QUID AND IS HOURS AND HOURS OF UNFORGETTABLE GENRE DEFINING GAMEPLAY AND BILLIONS MORE HOURS OF GENUINELY ENTERTAINING MULTIPLayer and oh shit caps was on…. sorry
I suppose the point im trying to make is, thee both awesome in their own way… Die Hard and Aliens were two very different movies….......both kicked ass!
I played Halo, and it was fun, but I couldn’t take the enemies seriously (I know its a game, I’m sad )The little squeaky things I actually felt guilty killing, the were like something off Michael Bentines Potty Time. Give me a Duck and Run battle with a tripod any day
halo games ok more into resident evil, hitman, (cant wait for a nex gen version), metal gear solid, and medal of honor all good. kane and lynch i thought would be ok (by the studio that makes hitman).
Ok guys, thanking you all for all the suggestions and advice! I have decided to buy all the Halos to get a feel for the game and a background on the story. Also on my shopping list is Call Of Duty 4 and an MSN Messenger kit. Cheers peeps!
The Half Life series kicks the Master Chief through the Fire Escape and beats the shit out of it him the car park!
Gordon Freeman is the man!
I couldn’t say it better. However, back on topic, if you aren’t interested in the story as much as multiplayer action you really have no need to get the first two. They are good for the story but they don’t compare in multi like Halo 3. In fact, most fanboys of the series hate two in all aspects. In Halo, like most FPS games, people don’t get really good till getting their arses kicked in multiplayer a few times. So, that said, 3 makes a great multiplayer game, but if you are going for a more hands on, story based, thinking man’s game. Pick up the Orange Box for Halflife… you won’t regret it.
Finished Episode 2 lastnight. The Tripod/Hunter attack on the rocket base at the end has to be the hardest battle of any video game I have ever played. Which should I go for next? Team Fortress or Portal?
Oh yeah, forgot about that. I have Half Life 2 for the PC, but not the extras. And portal looks like fun, so i’m gonna have to put that on my shopping list too!
