Main reason I’ll stick with XP.

That and its incredibly resource hungry…

Gary…

Not really…I got 3Gb RAM at it runs at about 25% usage at all times…

The meter hardly moves…

I dunno..There are some goods things about Vista…But…If i could have retained all my old progs from XP, i’d really be singing its praises…I can’t…It cut me off from all the good stuff i had before…

I don’t regret the decision to move to Vista…it’s just a bastard to lose so much…

You should be able to run your old programs if you install them using compatibility mode - this can be set per application. You can choose to run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode, or even all the way back to Windows 95 compatibility.

Guide

Cheers,
SD

I’ve got a fair few thousand pounds worth of music programs that can’t make the Vista leap. Happy with XP on the PC and laptop.

LMAO, very funny vid.

True in many ways too.  Tbh I found the stability to be fine, no BSD, lock-ups or hangs.
The bit about the needing to confirm every action is true though.  Even after you have told the fucking thing you are the Admin, and told it you’re not some newb who is going to delete dll’s just for fun it still assumes that you know fuck all about PC’s and makes your life hell.  The GUI is much better and the sidebar can have its uses.  Having only had a P4 when I tried it I got serious lag issues with the CPU showing 100% usage even though nothing was showing as using it, so went back to trusty old XP.

I’d say it will be like ME as a precursor to XP, the one that was a nice idea; just not well thought out, but it will be the next incarnation that will get everything right.  By which time we’ll all have 16core CPU’s and will be able to take over the world from the comfort of out own homes:p

Vista is not bad.  I have used it from when it was a beta and i still like it.  Now that other software companies are finally coming out with drivers it is nice

Same here. But if you use the XP compatability wizard, you can get most programs to work. The security pop ups only occur when installing and uninstalling software and things. Not to annoying.
