The difference in the media attention definitely shows a difference in attitude dividing the Atlantic. I’m probably generalizing here, but it seems that a greater proportion of people in Europe will take it as a joke and really it won’t bother them a huge amount - I’ve told some people at work about it and after the initial shock of it they all start pissing themselves with laughter. Whereas it seems every young teenage girl and gay guy has gone totally up in arms about it in the US.
