Anybody besides me (and one fellow who commented on the NSFW home page) having a problem playing videos today? The video starts and runs for anywhere from half a second to six seconds then stops and the ad appears (unlike the Flash bug where the video just stops).

It’s only happening on locally hosted videos - links to youtube and megarotic work OK. Same thing happens in both IE and Firefox and on two different computers.

I thought it was me or my machine at first and entertained leaving this post last night.  I had also updated iTunes with a quicktime plugin that I thought was boning me.  I use firefox usually, and pulled up TC.com with MS explorer and the issue seemed resolved.

Argh - farking Flash version problems again !!!

When b6 and DB both posted that their IE was working OK, I revisited the problem on both my laptop and desktop. The videos died as described in both browsers on my laptop and in Firefox on the desktop but IE on the desktop works OK. So I went after the Flash versions and the laptop is running 9.0.47 for both browsers, the desktop has 9.0.47 for Firefox but the ActiveX version for IE is 9.0.115.

For Windows users, check what versions you have by going to c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash. Right click on npswf32.dll for Firefox or flash9e.ocx for the IE/ActiveX, then click on Properties then Versions - see screen caps below.

I suggest that you update the ActiveX version to the latest 9.0.115.0 and use IE for TC and TNSFW until all other sites you visit have updated to the latest version. The admins and mods here work really hard to keep the site safe by protecting us from questionable links.

For the sites that haven’t updated and you experience the “Flash Freeze” problem (http://www.totallycrap.com/forums/viewthread/7593/) use the downlevel and vulnerable 9.0.47.0 driver in Firefox.
