here in the US, they are going into homes being built and stripping them of copper pipes and wire. Had a business down the road they just took a chain and truck and threw it over the power coming into the building to cut the power, then hooked the dead high voltage cables to the truck to pull them out of the conduit. they didnt piss with the low voltage wire, just the thick stuff. Police said it must have taken a couple hours to get it all, with all the damage they did in the process.
Now when you take in scrap copper they take your name and copy your drivers license to track where it is coming from.
