I cant see thumbnails anywhere in the forum. All i see is a link with the picture name and when clicked i get the TC frontpage. Anyone got any idea on why this is happening? I am using firefox 2.0.

If you want to post an image you have to use the upload feature

I don’t want to post anything at the moment. I want to see the pictures in this forum, the complete forum not just this “Your Crap” part. Do You understand me?

Sorry chaps, not sure what the fuck is going on. It’s not working on mine either.

Its nothing more than than that..

Seeing as this board is totally buzzin’ 24/7...there is no good time to do it...but it has to be done…

well it appears that all the pics are down again! ger!!!

If a very busy website temporarily turns off the pics..the board speeds up instead of waiting 3 minutes for a page to refresh or getting a 404 page....The website becomes usable again...people can post, albeit without pics…

Its just balancing things out between Willy’s bank account, his IT man and the Server who is hosting TotallyCrap.com…

One good thing tho’..all the links posted, are still working…

When the balance is eventually sorted and the usage facts and figures collated...things will return to normal, maybe a bit different...maybe the same...A few changes here...a few changes there...who knows..

Turning off pics temporarily, is one of the easiest ways to restore website viewing speed when its busy and hitting it peak viewing..

I know it sounds silly...but its the only compromise at the moment and Willy and his IT man need to work out how much more bandwidth Willy needs to pay for full functioning...Its not easy.

The server who is hosting TC, will look at the figures and give an average...then tell Willy how much more bandwidth they think he’ll need to purchase.

Don’t forget, this board has only been up and running since October...and its got nearly 65,000 members...The board is in its early days...Figures need to be looked at and worked out.

At least the links all work.

And if you want to upload a pic whilst this is being sorted...try a free image host...If you do...you are using THEIR bandwidth ( which they are offering to do )

OK, people, here is the low down.

We have running now

together these sites pull in an average of 150-175k unique visitors a day who generate close to 1.000.0000 pageviews every day. Heavy traffic pageviews such as all the flash videos we host.
A couple of weeks ago we had a peak of 350.000 visitors and 1.5 million pageviews.

Although it shouldn’t have happened it broke our servers (yes, we can’t just use one anymore, we have a whole bunch of the expensive motherfuckers standing around).

Our host is doing his best to fix the problem, but it is not going as smoothly as planned. This has meant we had to run scertain parts of the site on static and turn of some features just to keep the sites going. Features such as pics, members online etc were turned off permanently or for a while.
Trsut me when I say i wish I did not need to do this and I have been rather pissed the last few weeks as all the uncertainty has been killing the sites I worked very hard for the last 2 years.

Together with our host we are looking at the possible solutions and we hope to get normal service resumed next week. Unfortunately it all costs time and money, but I promise we’ll be back bigger and better very soon.
