Eight current Formula 1 teams have released a statement revealing that they are to leave Formula 1 at the end of this season. Members of the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) sent out the message following a meeting on Thursday, stating that all current teams apart from Williams and Force India will leave F1 at the end of 2009. Well, what has it all come down to? Has Max Mosley been caught with his pants down? Again. Will the FOTA teams go through with it? Will the FIA back down? I can’t imagine they can just let this continue, because a world championship with just the likes of Williams, Force India and 3 new teams is not going to attract the big sponsors and crowds. This looks like Champ Car vs IRL all over again.

Legend Valentino The Doctor Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo are wheel to wheel going in to the last lap. Both drive for Yamaha and the next rider in the pack is some way back, it will be between them. Rossi is a multiple world champion and without a doubt the best motorbike racer ever. Jorge Lorenzo is racing in his home country and the fans are behind him. The only instructions Yamaha gave them was to not crash into each other. They managed to do that and still make it a memorable lap. Hats off to both racers, who are now tied in frst place in the World Championship.

The inevitable has happened. Manchester United have finally bowed to a whopping 80 million pound bid for Cristiano Ronaldo. The bidder of course is Real Madrid. A Spanish football club with a debt so big an African country would be ashamed of it. Does the world football governing body, FIFA, care about that? Not one bit, they don’t want to stop the merry go round and they escpecially don’t want to step on the toes of the big clubs. Smaller clubs are forced to provide balance sheets which are balanced or they could lose their license. Real Madrid and numerous other clubs don’t have to. After signing Kaka for 64 million and now Ronaldo for 80 million they’d better sell a hell of a lot of shirts and win something to earn that money back. Otherwise they’ll just have to come up with another funky trick to cook the books.

He has not scored high in any world championship he’s ridden in, but the guy sure has some brilliant bike control and made the save of the season when he ran wide at the Mugello track during a 250cc qualifying session. If you like cycling yesterday was one of the highlights of the cycling year. Paris - Roubaix otherwise known as a ride through hell. 260km of which a large part riding your ass over cobblestones. It is an immensely popular race and thousands of people stand by the side of the road to catch a glimpse of their heros thundering past on their bikes. And with thousands of people, beered up and full of enthusiasm, packed on the side of the road accidents can happen. Like during yesterday’s race. A police motorbike who was escorting the leading group of riders saw a group of supporters who had stepped into the road too late and crashed into them at about 30 miles an hour. The count. 10 injured of which 3 seriously. Tom Boonen won the race for the thrid time.
