Some independant IT security websites are also claiming that ‘Safari’ is totally unsafe and has serious security issues.

that explains why I had an ‘Itunes update’ message earlier that upon closer inspection was Safari, to which I promptly clicked cancel!

Jobs is an opportunist whose gambles always seem to pay off and reap dividends. Personally I’ll avoid Safari like it was the H5N1 virus.

maybe the gamble aren’t such a big gamble after all. I’m sure Jobs knew the world was really turing against companies like Microsoft and IBM and he manouverd Apple into an underdog position. And we all love an underdog. Shame the underdog is starting to use underhand tactis to get its crap to people.

“Security firm Secunia has given the flaws a ‘highly critical’ rating, the second highest rating on its scale.
The other flaw, said Secunia, is an error that occurs when downloading files with an overly long filename, which can be exploited to cause a memory corruption which could in turn allow a hacker to take control of the PC.

So..It looks like Mac users are no better off these days, than PC users.

not to stir up any debate here or discredit you de bunk (big fan of yours) but isnt the operative part of that quote “safari browser for windows 3.1” ?
which wouldnt mean that mac users are as bad off as pc users; rather, theres no hope for pcs even if they have a mac broswer…
as for including safari in itunes updates, apple has included quicktime with itunes downloads for years (the only other free apple software for pc) i dont agree with it, but if people dont want it, uncheck it! maybe thats why pcs are plagued with viruses so much if the majority of the users blindly download anything without checking what theyre getting first…

I’ve been testing on Safari on PC for a few months now and I have to say, it’s a bloody fast browser and actually quite nice to use.

Masonchair, I think DB was talking about the current version of Safari which is 3.1 and not the old Windows OS

i have a 4 yr old G4 apple laptop, not once have i had to defrag! reinstall the OS or install any antivirus software!

im so glad i got a mac, i threw my PC in the bin, !
