I think the elephants are smarter than some of the posters.

I remember reading somewhere in an Orwell essay that elephants go batshit insane, (not his actual words), for no apparent reason. Yeah, the elephant may have been aggrivated by the surrounding people, but it also starts randomly attacking another elephant. Ah well, who knows?

sorry if my rant affected anyone.  I don´t feel part of a society who mistreat animals or exterminate people either, but still think about the necessity of population birthrate control in developing countries, seeing that crowd acting like savage it´s pretty disgusting, of course, as much of US acts with his “enemies”.

I find it funny that there were about ten thousand people there, largest land animals on the planet, and not one fuckin gun for emergences? LOL...Thats just plain stupid

Cant say I blame the elephant.  Years of abuse and torture had to come out some day.  People, easy on the ethnic and cultural statements.  This kinda crap isnt in just some parts of the world. It is everywhere.  However, that elephant woulda got a bullet 1 min in if in the US.  It happens when animals are abused AND they are big enough to fight back.  Good for the elephant!

I agree...Animals like that belong in the wild, instinks take over, and they react...If something like this happened in the U.S, they would have dropped the elephant in less that a minuite...Not try to take on an elephant with a stick...lol...Thats what they have for emergences? Damn!!!, I am from India, and most of these incidents, almost 90% happens in the state named KERALA (termed as GOD’S OWN COUNTRY). Why this happens is, their culture, ofcourse INDIA is filled with lots of cultures and traditions, but this KERALA culture is to include ELEPHANTS in any temple occasions or even in their main festival ONAM, if any of you see that sight, you will say WOW, its like that, they use many many elephants in the festivals, and ofcourse, an elephant gets mad atleast once a year, sometimes this happens.

Even exactly 10 days before, similar incident was shown on local news channel, 3 were killed..., and yeah, forgot to say the rest 10% elephant accidents happens in my state TAMILNADU, lol.. Shit happens!!
