Zidane’s Foul
So last night, the world cup came to a close for another four years. Italy beat France, eventually, but just as the game was drawing to an end, Zidane decided to finish off his career in style by head butting one of the Italians. Apparently, he was making comments about Zidane’s Algerian heritage, which is something he has had to endure throughout his playing carrer. Maybe he thought, fuck it i’m not taking it anymore and decided to lash out. Or maybe something else was said to him to provoke the reaction he gave. Either way, he got sent off for it and ended his career in shame. Well, that’s what everyone in the press is saying. Not us though. If Zidane wants to liven up a game by throwing a bit of a hissy fit after a bit of playground name calling, it will always make for good viewing. But for a world class footballer, his aim was a bit off. You’d think he could hit him properly from that distance.

Lets get some facts straight.
Zidane was officially named the best player of the tournament by FIFA (he got the title AFTER the final so headbutt was taken into account) and he deserves it.
Neither Italy or France really won for me. It was a draw after 120 minutes and that’s the final score for me. Penalties is a matter of luck. Do another 5 penalties en the french will win, another 5 and italy wins again. Penalties are no way to decide a match in my eyes.
And to finish my little rant here:
A foul is a foul, Zidane deserved that red card.

In general though, guess what, the cup belongs to Italy. Shallow or not, its a victory. I’d take it anyday, and never give a second thought to a bunch of jerkoffs calling me a diver or a peperonni (heh) or whatever.

Materazzi did what almost players do in a game, the difference is that zidane (14 years of top level player) should have never get in the trap.Zidane knows very well Materazzi as he played in the same Italian League.
But maybe the memory of all of you is a bit weaky: he got a 6 days fee for jumping with both feet on a stomach player, he got 4 days fee for crushing a opposite player and many more… doesn’t seems to be an angel.

If he acted like that while playing in the NFL or USA MLB he would either get his head knocked off by a 250 pound guy running full speed or get hit in the head by a 95 mile per hour (150 kilometers per hour) baseball. Watch USA sports sometime; NFL, Hockey, baseball, etc. players don’t need referees to take care of guys like Materazzi. At the end of the day guys like that need to be called out for acting like an asshole.
