I dont think George will be a great supporter for my proposed “wipe out all the middle East, create holiday home real estate for the West” plan. It may need some selling ....

George is right, up until the bit where he targets Bush+Blair because it’s nothing really to do with them.  The problem started long before either of their Premierships (and Bush+Blair realise a UN resolution will achieve nothing, hence the stalling).

Her line of questioning is atrocious, really below par.  Symptomatic of the “We Ask The Hard Questions” mentality put on by ITV and Fox and Sky in order to quantify their journalistic approach (which is pragmatic at best).  None of her questions have any point other than to lead to the answer she wants/expects - but George (in his finest style) turns them around.

“Justify”.  Justify?  How do they justify its support of Israel?  Then it’s clear she’s being fed a question/quote.  “Finger on the button” and a faulty quote of George, who sets her right.  Oh, and then she changes the subject…

Bullshit right down the line.  Even down to them changing the volume of Galloway - and even making the sound on the video to the left ‘play’ whilst he speaks.

Galloway may very well be as you put it, a corrupt self-serving cunt, but he raises the right points.
Much of the media coverage does not talk about anything, that has happened more than 4 weeks ago. This is his main argument. And he is right.

I also think he is right, that Israel is loosing this war.

This George character is ridiculous.  And Willy, you’re foolish for posting this leftist propaganda.  Stick to comedy, you’re much better at it.  Like those so called “models” sitting next to your minis.  They gave me a good laugh.

For those who complain the U.S. does nothing to promote the peace… you’re the same bastards who were crying foul,  that the U.S. was meddling, back when Bill Clinton was heavily engaged 12 years ago.

george galloway is a bit of fool, but hes right the crisis goes all the way back to 1945-48 at least, and the british media are to scared or too intimidated to explore other reasons behind the crisis.  p.s. this guy isnt so great he appeared on big brother and acted as a cat at one point!

@knobbly:  oh most certainly.  He’s the shadiest of the shadiest in his personal life, but if there’s someone who can stand in a gutter and still shout louder than the media then it’s Gorgeous George.  He’s wrong an awful lot about the UK - but he has a dissenting (and accurate) understanding of foreign problems and policy (which is entirely why he founded RESPECT - though he’s done absolutely bugger all with it).

As for the US meddling.  You’re currently parked in Iraq and Afghanistan, threatening Iran and N.Korea, and threatening the revolutionary left leaders down in South America.  What the US does for “peace” looks remarkably like declaring war.  George is within his full right to criticize the way your country attempts to govern others.  If Lebanon had done the invading the opinions would soon change in the US.

True… the U.S. is a militarist state and we have our hands in the pot all over the world.  Did we ask to be the world’s policemen?  Am I ashamed the U.S. flaunts it’s military might, so that I, as a citizen will benefit?  Absolutely not!  We’re the only superpower for a reason!  But I’m also not naive enough to believe the U.S. empire will outlive the truths of history.

Sky, CBS, NBC, CNN, and to a lesser extent, the BBC, are all about infotainment these days. If you want serious journalism that reports the facts (or factoids ) on an even-handed basis, then you don’t go to any of these so-called media outlets.
Kudos to George for shaking up these meccas of image over substance again. There is a Zionist agenda here in the mainstream media, and the funny thing is, they don’t hide it either.

Think you’re incredibly harsh on the BBC there.  BBC have always drawn a clear line between the serious element of their debates, and the ‘infotainment’ parts.

Absolutely we benefit, even at the cost of 2,500 fellow country men and billions in treasure.  We’re helping reshape the middle-east, which in turn, will open new markets to the capitalist machine decades down the road.  In the short term, we’re quenching this country’s immense thirst for oil.  So I see great benefit to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.  And Israel is more than a strategic ally.  They’re like a U.S. attack dog keeping the balance of power in favor of U.S. policy.

If you crack open a history book or two… you might learn something about the capitalistic empires of the past and their use of force to engorge their coffers.  Think… spice trading with the Portuguese empire, the Spanish conquests of South America, all of Europes’ plundering of Africa and Southeast Asia, the British conquest of India.  Don’t you remeber the phrase, “The sun never sets on the British Empire?”  I wonder where that came from?

You may be angry with U.S. policy and capitalist aggression today; but remember, you were doing the same thing just yesterday.  And so was the middle east… think Persian and Ottoman Empires.

Why was Saddam spending billions of dollars on archeological digs before the 2003 war? Why were the ancient Sumerian cylinder seals stolen from a museum in Baghdad during the 2003 war/occupation? If you want to get to the bottom of Gulf War 2 and find out what it was really about, then you’ve got to answer these questions. It’s not so much an oil grab as you think. He certainly can rant/shout the odds articulately, but (as mentioned somewhere above) he does nowt for his constituents (such as not turning up to vote against the Iraq invasion/war, turning up at Parliament at all, poncing around on Celebrity Big Brother/I’m A Cunt, Leave Me In Here) and when put up against a more credible interviewer (e.g. Jeremy Paxman carving him up like a Sirloin steak) he’s left wanting.
