Well, most situations where you need to utilize a pistol for self defense are under 10 feet, if its concealed properly the aggressor shouldnt know that you have it on, hence he/she steps up close to attack, knife or bat or whatever, with adrenaline pumping, you would be suprised how easy it is to miss a target at 10 ft unless you practice to the point of muscle memory.
