My first reaction was that he was hitting her and I can see why those people started beating him. But upon closer inspection, it does look like a mutual dispute and he really was doing no worse to her than she was to him.

As for the equal rights comment, I agree with that. I can’t stand for a woman to talk shit to a guy then expect everyone to protect her when she get in over her head. But that a somewhat different story.
